Chemo #6 and Praises

Psalms 31:1-4  I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

I got to see my oncologist, Dr. Nair this week and got some wonderful news. As he was examining me, he had to ask me where the knot was because he couldn’t find it. After I showed him, he still could not find anything. Whoo Hoo!!! How awesome is that?!

My white blood cell counts were down, but just high enough that I could get my chemo that day. He changed up my chemo treatment, so I will be getting a lower dose of the Carboplatin every week instead of the full dose every three weeks. I will also be getting the Neupogen shot for three days. Hoping this will help my numbers not tank.

Dr. Bakhru, my gynecology oncologist still wanted to do the cone biopsy, but wanted to give me blood platelets before the procedure. I am hoping that will also help my white blood cell counts to increase. It will also help me not get an infection after the procedure.

The morning of my biopsy went well. I wasn’t nervous except for accessing the veins. Like I said before, my veins do not cooperate. I have to laugh every time the nurse comes in as I wish them luck. They always reassure me they have no problems and ask to just take a look. They look and think they have found a promising vein, so they try and fail. The second nurse came in and was able to find a vein. Thank you Lord! I am so thankful for the port that was placed for the chemo. I cannot imagine having to access a vein for chemo every week. I have learned that chemotherapy destroys your veins. One on the many side effects.

Me patiently waiting

The blood platelets were brought in and I was surprised to see that it did not look like blood. It looks like orange juice. They actually extract the blood platelets from the blood. It is easier to absorb just the platelets than from a full blood transfusion.

I promise it’s not orange juice. It’s really blood platelets.

I have to interject and just praise the nurses, technicians, coordinators, and anesthetists at TMH. Everyone that I came in contact with yesterday were a joy to be with. Everyone made me feel like they were all on my team. It definitely helped me not feel nervous. And God being on my side. That’s always a plus.

The cone biopsy went really well. Dr. Bakhru felt like he was able to get high enough and got a good biopsy. Hoping if there were any traces of cancer, he was able to remove it.

I saved the best news for last. I got the PET Scan results back and there is NO ACTIVE CANCER in my body! There is none in my breast, none in my cervix and still no lymph node involvement! Praise God!!  That was only after 5 chemo treatments. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me and my family! Can I just say again…Praise God!!!

This song is one that we sing in church and I love it! The words are so true. His praise will forever be on my lips, no matter what the circumstances.

Ever Be sung by Kalley Heiligenthal

My battle still continues. I will continue with my chemotherapy and surgeries. And I will continue to praise my God!
